Visits
The highlights of last academic year were the visits of some VIP at FACTEB. First, in early July, Lau
came to Congo with a group of five friends from Canada. In the context of what we're calling "Friends of Boma," they came
on an exploratory trip, just wanting to know what the Lord is doing in Congo and how they can be part of it. The focus of
the trip of the "Friends of Boma" was, of course, FACTEB. They not only were able to attend our graduation ceremony (in a
typical African way), but they were also able to conduct work sessions with faculty and students. Their time in Boma was also
put to use, doing a complete inventory of FACTEB's current needs in terms of infrastructure.
FACTEB also received
the visit of President Benedict (the President of the US C&MA) with Vice President Bob Fetherlin and the Brauns (Chris
and Marcia) who were in Congo to attend Synod at Kinkonzi.
Last but not least, we also received the visit of Rene
and Cecilia Holvast, former Dutch missionaries in Mali, and currently involved in doctoral studies at Utrecht. They came to
explore the possibility of joining our team at FACTEB. We spent a quite enjoyable time together, doing our best to present
to them a realistic picture of our situation. It is, therefore, with great pleasure that we received word that the Holvasts
have decided to effectively come to FACTEB in July 2008. They will be living right on campus with us. Praise the Lord! Pray
also that whatever needs to happen between now and then will fall in place.

Seminar
In August 2007, FACTEB organized a week-long workshop on teaching and learning. Faculty members from FACTEB, Kinkonzi
Bible Institute, and Kikimi Bible Institute also attended. topics covered included curriculum development, syllabus development,
classroom management, Bloom's taxonomy on learning style, etc. The wish of all those who attended is that this seminar continues
every year.
Conferences
Last September 2007, our two full time female theologians, Dr. Masanga and Professor Kwangu attended the Panafrican Conference
of the Cercle of Women Theologians in Yaounde, Camaroun, where they both read papers.
Likewise, in May 2007, Dr. Mabiala Kenzo attended the first Panafrican Amahoro Conference in Mokono, near Kampala, Uganda
where he read a paper on the Future of the Postcolonial Church
Departure
It's with mix feelings that we said goodbye to Reverend Manzali Tsisi who served FACTEB for many years as Chief Administrative
Officer with class and professionalism. Reverend Manzali has been elevated to the position of Chief Administrative Officer
for the denomination, the Alliance Church in Congo. We're grateful that Reverend Manzali accepted to continue his involvement
with us by offering a course on Church Administration.
